DAY TRIPS IN BALI

1. DISCOVERY TOUR OF THE BALINESE CULTURE
Our guide will share with you his knowledge of the Balinese culture.

Batubulan: Great show with a sample of dances and legends in Bali in an open-air theatre.

Denpasar: Visit of workshop and batik school (process of drawing with wax and soaking in different dying baths and the fabric, batik, has just been listed by Unesco and ikat: hand woven fabrics on traditional looms.
Celuk: Manufacturing of solid silver jewellery at Pande’s workshops. You will admire the works finely embossed, Bali specialty.


Batuan: Visit of a traditional house, unique occasion to see how Balinese live daily.

Batuan: Pura Puseh temple-literally temple of the origins- has various pavilions and meru with floral decors. You will note an imposing turtle that symbolizes the temple stability as well as a pavilion with its roof decorated with paintings of the different gods; a gamelan is also exposed. You will be given explanations about the Hindu religion of Bali and its rites

At your own expenses:  proposed lunch facing the rice fields, an occasion to discover-if you wish- the regional specialty of Ubud, bebek betutu, duck steamed in spices and rice husk. A tasty exotic experience.

Mas: Wood handicraft village. You will see the various steps of wood carving from the log to the final work of art.

Mas: at the cemetery, your guide will explain to you the different rituals to the deceased, believes and ceremonies according to the castes.

Lodtunduh: You will see painters specialized in traditional painting of Butuan as well as the one of Penestanan, famous thanks to the Dutch painters who lived in Ubud in the 30ies such as Ary Smith and his blue rice fields. A panel of all Balinese works are at your disposal, as traditional as figurative or abstract.

To end this tour, our guide will propose a cup of coffee in an agricultural garden where you will taste free of charge tea, infusion or coffee. You will try the coffee luwak, made through a rather strange process.

2. TOUR IN UBUD
Departure at 9.00 AM

Balinese dance show in Batubulan in an open-air theatre.

Goa Gaja, caves one of which is adorned with an elephant, Ganesa, protective god.

You will then visit the Bali Bird Park and see a Komodo dragon in a garden and also a Toraja house.

Your guide will drive you to Monkey Forest in Ubud, park with ancient trees and their monkeys jumping from branches to branches.

You will visit the royal palace, residence of Ubud king.

You will also do a trekking in the terrace rice fields in Tegallalang.

Back to your hotel or villa.

3. TOUR to BEDUGUL
Departure at 9.00 AM

Jatiluwih : very nice terrace rice fields. Trekking possible.

Batukaru : Temple nestled in the mountain.

Trip to Bedugul and its vegetable and fruits market.

Then, Beratan Lake, its gardens and its famous temple on water.

Travel through roads along nice landscapes to Tanah Lot, sea temple built in the 16th century that you will reach at sunset.

Back to your hotel or villa.

4. TOUR to BATUR VOLCANO
Departure at 9.00 AM

Travel to Batur volcano and lake. En route, you will pass Tampaksiring village: Gunung Kawi, 11th century site with its mausoleum to the queens and then head to Tirta Empul temple, sacred water temple. That water comes from Mount Agung and is used by the Balinese for their ceremonies; you will surely see Balinese dressed in traditional costume to bathe in the pools and carry on their head water cans filled with this water that they will keep in their family temple.

Then your guide will propose a coffee break in the Temen agronomical garden.

You will visit the traditional village of Penglipuran with its central street lined with traditional houses.

Lunch facing the Batur volcano and the lake and then trekking in the rice fields in Tegallalang.

Back to your hotel or villa through small typical roads.

5. TOUR TO THE EAST OF BALI
Departure at 9.00 AM

The guide will drive you along the sea and then will take small picturesque roads to Klungkung: Justice Court famous for its paintings telling the Maharabharata, story of a fratricidal war. You will also see drawings evoking hell.

Then you will go the traditional market specialized in ceremony paraphernalia proper to the Balinese culture.

Lunch facing Mount Agung through small roads along Sidemen rice fields.

You will then join the coast via Tenganan village. Visit of the village with a guide who will tell you about specific custom of that Bali Aga village.

Goa Lawa, bats cave, will be your last stop.

Variant to that tour

Candidasa for snorkelling and/or safari photo in an animal park, water park, riding elephant or camels… Count about 3 hours.

Back to your hotel or villa.

Those tours include:
English speaking guide, air conditioned car, parking fees, petrol, lending of sarongs for the temples, a bottle of mineral water per person, umbrella. If the guide has to overnight far from his hometown, he organizes himself his stay, dinner and breakfast.

Are not included:
entrance fees into the monuments and donations in sites , lunches and dinners, hotels that you book on internet or chose at the end of every day with the guide according to a price level you will let him know and your personal expenses. The driver guide will have his lunch alone or together with you if you want to take the opportunity of a cultural discussion.
